Welwyn Rugby Club, Sponsorship scheme 2007/08
With five senior sides Welwyn RFC is one of the most successful rugby clubs in the area, with regular reports and photos in the Welwyn Hatfield Times, a thriving mini/junior section of more than four hundred (supported by a very active parents group), 160 senior players and over 250 non-playing adult members.
Total direct audience reach is over 1200 with indirect reach of twice that number through the local newspaper. The club has a high proportion of AB members and that difficult to reach late teenage sector.
With the 1st XV having just been promoted (in a divisional play-off on 28th April 2007), the club is now seeking sponsorship for the 2007/8 season, which is available for either the whole season, or just for a game, or simply for one first team player, in packages which are suitable for both small and large companies as well as individual supporters:-
Bronze Season: £500
- ·Link on the team website to your company website & write-up about your Company
- ·Mention at all major events
- ·Distribution of Company flyers to all members at the beginning of the season
- ·Advert in the annual club handbook (which includes the fixture lists for all teams and is a reference guide all year)
- ·Two VP memberships to WRFC (allowing you to enter the ballot for England tickets)
Silver Season: £1000
- As Bronze plus:
- ·Man of the Match Award in your Company Name at a home game of the 1st Team
- ·An advertising board in the main clubhouse for a year
- ·An advertising board (provided by you) at pitch-side for all home games
Gold Season: £2500
- As Silver plus:
- ·Lunch for 2 at a big game with the Club Chairman and VPs
- ·Company Logo on 1st Team Training Tops or on the shirts of our Second XV or a Junior Side
- ·Most Improved Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year Awards in your Company name
Platinum Season: £5000
- (ONLY ONE PER YEAR)
- As Silver plus:
- ·Your Company logo on 1st Team Shirts (regular photos appearing in the local paper)
- ·Premium space for your logo and advertising in the club handbook and on the homepage of the club website
- ·An advertising board (provided by you) behind the posts at all home games
- ·Premium car park space reserved for you next to the clubhouse for all 1st Team home games
- ·Player of the Year Award in your Company name
- ·Logo and mention in any programmes that are printed (see game sponsorship below)
- ·Lunch for 4 at a big game with the Club Chairman and VPs
- ·Opportunity to set-up a sales stand and distribute literature at the annual awards dinner
- ·Reserved premium table and chairs for 8 guests in the clubhouse on 1st team match days
Bronze One Game: £50
- ·Photo Opportunity with the Team Captain before the game
- ·Your name or logo on the matchday programme if printed, otherwise an A1 poster in the clubhouse
- ·You get to keep the matchball
Silver One Game: £100
- As Bronze plus: Opportunity to distribute promotional leaflets at the game.
Gold One Game: £150
- As Silver plus: Opportunity to provide an advertising board at pitch-side for the game.
Platinum One Game: £500
- ·Special matchday programme featuring your Company
- ·Premium car park space reserved for you next to the clubhouse for the game
- ·Opportunity to provide an advertising board behind the posts for the game
- ·Opportunity to set-up a sales stand in the clubhouse on the day and distribute Company literature
Women’s Team Season: £1000
The women’s team has only just formed and is sure to get plenty of publicity in it’s first full season in 2007/8. What better time to put your company’s name on the front of their shirts?! Other deals are possible to mirror the opportunities for the men’s first team, just ask for details. For £1000 you’ll get:-
- ·Your Company logo on 1stTeam Shirts (regular photos appearing in the local paper)

Player Sponsorship
For just £150 you can sponsor a player for the season
Juniors, Girls and Mini Teams
In addition to the above sponsorship opportunities, senior and junior teams (age groups 13 to 18) go on tour each year and seek sponsorship for their tours. Mini teams start with the under 7’s and progress through to the Junior teams and themselves attract lots of publicity (they won several trophies in 2006/7). Opportunities can be negotiated with the team managers, please state the age groups you are interested in when asking for details.
First Come First Served
Season sponsorship will be sold in the order that confirmed sponsorship promises are made
Other Deals
It is possible to create other opportunities to suit your pocket, such as sponsored corner flags, post protectors, players tape, providing services to the club in return for advertising etc.
