Welwyn Warriors started in September 2001 when Lesley Brookes had just 3 girls! From there Warriors has grown to an U18s, U15s and now an U12 group is forming! Warriors is one of the most succesful English sides in Girls rugby!
Each season Warriors progress and 2007-08 has been no exception! This was the best ever season for the girls. National Cup finalists as Welwyn-Basford and National 7s plate winners as Welwyn-Saints. A fantastic tour to Wales including a win over East Wales region at Ebbw Vale. We have a hugely successful U15s section, check out their page!
In 2006 Welwyn Warriors was voted Welwyn-Hatfield Sports Club of the year. We have a very successful U15s team - check out their page!The team train on Wednesday evenings 7-9pm. A full calendar of matches is in place and the team is in the London & Surrey league. Matches are played on Sundays. As well as being a succesful club side,Warriors supplies a number of County and East of England Regional players as well as having 3 girls in the RFUW Talent Development Group.
Last Easter Warriors Toured Wales, with matches against Newport and East Wales region, our thanks to the Welsh RFUW for all their kind assistance!' This was the second 'Foreign tour' the Warriors have made, Biarritz in France was their tour in 2005
Welwyn Warriors is very well supported by Welwyn-Hatfield council, The Local Network fund, Awards for All as well as being proud members of The Welwyn Hatfield Sport & Physical Activity Alliance (WHSPAA).

Welwyn Warriors U15 team covers School Years 8, 9 and 10 and has a full programme of games and tournaments on Sundays throughout this season. Last season was again successful as they won the Plate Section of the Herts Girls Rugby 7’s, having been the Winners of the Tournament the previous year, ere coming Runners-Up at the Beckenham Festival and Winning the Bowl Section of the National Girls Rugby 7’s in a combined team with Saracens called ‘the Wellies’.
As well as being a successful club side, 10 Welwyn U14’s represented the undefeated Herts U14 team last season, of which six were subsequently selected to represent the East of England. One Player was invited to join the RFUW School of Rugby Programme.
The U15 team train on Wednesday evenings 7-9pm, together with the U18’s. New Players are actively encouraged and are quickly integrated into the squad.
