A squad
of 23 players attended a mini tour of Wales over the Bank weekend in
August. After a very successful fundraising effort by players and a hard
24 hour bike marathon filled with unusual sights and laughs thanks to
'The big Hole' William Freeston and Luke 'Skywalker' Williams, we
departed on the Thursday to Morfa Bay for a 4 night stay.
The first 2 days we focused on activities and team building and I am
very proud to say the Welwyn boys did brilliantly and approached each
task with enthusiasm and commitment.
We played a pre season match against a strong Laurghne side and
unfortunately went down to the Welsh. The fun and interesting tales in
the local pub made up for the loss and set the Mood for our night out in
Tenby. Austen Cox singing do you wanna be in my Gang made the trip a
memorable one, especially for the 4 girls we offerd a ride to....
( ha ha ha).
We all made it back for 11 and the team must be congratulated on
that!!!!!( well done lads).
Gorge walking, absailing, a classic road race and no water made for a
Long day. We spent the last evening down at the local and it must go
down as one of the best nights ever, noses and grass, 5's alive, spoons,
Swarve and his protests followed by some naked dances(?!) and a huge
BBQ.
The lads had a Fantastic tour, their behaviour was exemplary and the
interaction with the younger kids and fun they had with them was
welcomed by all parents and staff. We left the Bay knowing that the
walls around the fortress had been strengthend for the season ahead and
we kept the Welwyn name flying high.
To all the players we will remember the days and nights, what we
achieved together and the special bond that was formed, table tennis,
Merve, High Ropes, assault Course, Tug of War, shouts of joy in the
early morning and Tenby will always be 'Tidy Like'. See the pictures
here..... (if you dare)
