The success story that is WRFC's Girls section just keeps getting better! Last Sunday at Hobbs Way, Welwyn Warriors convincingly beat Milton Keynes Mad Kows in U17 and U14 age groups. The U14's ran out 60-0 winners with Frances Dawson scoring 3 tries and new signings from Stortford, Hannah Gallagher scoring 7 and Harriet Lilley scoring 1. Hitchin girl Steph White, turning out for the Warriors also shows great promise as do Ellie Atkinson, Becky Dawson and Millie Porter.

The U17 side kept up their magnificent record by winning 38-5 and providing 4 players for MK at the same time! The Warriors girls put total commitment into every tackle and the forwards of Hannah Marques, Emma Cramphorn & Hitchin girl Clare Foster dominated the breakdowns. The tackling was so strong that 4 MK girls were unable to continue and Welwyn had to lend the Kows their subs. Megan Williams raced in for the first try which she converted. She added another a few minutes later after a fine run by Mel Harcourt. 10 minutes later an MK attack was stopped dead in midfield , Welwyn won possession, Marques found Michelle Brophy who ran half the pitch to score under the posts. In the second half more Warriors possession, a superb one handed take by Brophy who then passed out wide to Lana Block, she raced 40 metres to score. Williams converted two of the tries. Jess Lane and Charlie White closed down any chances MK created out wide and just on full time, Danielle Topham 'Guesting' for the Kows, scored their consolation try in the corner.

The quality of the coaching from Clive Cramphorn and Luke Williams was clear for all to see as the Welwyn girls took control of both matches.
