YOUNG WARRIORS LEAD THE WAY!

Welwyn Warriors took two teams to Letchworth and it was the U14 side that showed their illustrious U17 colleagues how to play! There was none of the disjointed play the senior side has displayed over the last couple of games. With Hannah Gallagher roaring in for 4 tries, Harriet Lilley with 2 and one each for Rachel McCullough, Milley Porter, Sudbury's Miska Mayers, guesting for Warriors and Frances Dawson. Becky Dawson provided great support as Warriors were faultless winning 0-66.

The U17s put in an improved but still sluggish display. The fluency of their play has dipped. The team will only be together in this form until the end of the season as several of the older girls move up to senior rugby. If they want to go out on a high note with a winning French tour then sleeves must be rolled up! A 0-39 winning margin looks good on paper and there were moments of inspiration, Hannah Marques and Emma Cramphorn's quick line out call leading to Cramphorn sweeping over for the first try and the continued good scrummaging and rucking. Michele Brophy scored a trademark 50m run to the line for the second and Megan William's recovered from being tackled by the hair and being the first Warrior ever to be scalped in open play! She gained the best revenge possible with a scorching 22 yard run leaving letchworth clutching at air. In the second half Letchworth requested uncontested scrums which swung the advantage back to the home side but Warriors defence was always too strong. Late on a great pass from Hitchin's Clare Foster to Williams made it 0-34 and a quick tap penalty from Hitchins' other guest, Mel Waites to Marques saw the visitors hooker romp over for her second try in 2 games. Warriors winning 0-39.

Three weeks until Biarritz, back to serious training on Wednesday evening!
All new players welcome at Hobbs Way then!
