LUKE'S A REAL LADIES MAN!
21 year old Luke Williams is much more than a key member of Welwyn's
First Team, he's also one of the driving forces behind Girls and
Womens rugby in the area!
Together with Clive Cramphorn, Luke has made Welwyn Warriors U17s,
the most successful team in The County! Luke is really proud of the
Warriors Girls side that includes his sister, Megan. 'This year
the U17s are just superb! We just have a team that fits so well
together. The blend is perfect, the talent is immense, Clive and I
have seen them go from strength to strength. We have a great pack of
forwards and backs that will hurt any team. The Warriors now have an
U14 section as well and they could maybe turn out to be as good or
even better than the current bunch!'
As a progression from Warriors, Luke has been appointed as assistant
County Girls coach and he saw his charges get off to winning ways
against Essex on Sunday, where Herts won 12-0. 'This is a great
step forward for the girls. We have 6 Warriors girls in the squad
but then you have the cream of the girls from Fullerians, Hertford,
Hitchin, Letchworth etc and they make an awesome side. Essex was a
tough side with a huge pack but after a shaky start our girls bossed
the match and were worthy winners'.
To ensure he has all the angles covered, Luke also coaches the
University of Herts ladies side. 'it keeps me busy he admitted
but there is so much talent in the University team that I'd hate to
see it go to waste'. Luke is looking forward to a really
successful season for all his ladies!
