A trip to local rivals Hertford saw a morning of undefeated rugby from Welwyn under 12s which delighted both players and coaches alike. Welwyn dominated for large periods of the first half but only had the one try through Tom Webb to show for all their efforts. Hertford dominated the opening period of the second half but the Welwyn defence held firm and a charge by forward Abby Maxwell out of defence finally got Welwyn into the Hertford half. From here a sustained period of pressure from Welwyn resulted in Ian Forbes crashing over for a try. Final result 12-0.
Welwyn B team took to the field for the second match and after falling to an early unconverted try, a strong performance by forward Judd Otene got Welwyn going before Tom Webb went over from close range. The try was converted by Liam Scofiled which then put Welwyn in front 7-5. The second half saw Welwyn get off to a good start with Hugo Henson going over after some excellent work from the forwards. Hertford attacked strongly and Welwyn were not able to hold on, conceding a late converted try to leave the scores tied at 12-12.
Both Welwyn and Hertford put out mixed teams for a final evenly fought game with some excellent tackling from Welwyn's new player Jimmy Lawrence putting in some fine tackling and a second half try from Alex Rose (converted by Bradleigh Lack) gave Welwyn a 7-0 victory.
