Welwyn Warriors continue unrivalled start to the season

Welwyn Warriors U15s scored 16 tries as they destroyed a Middlesex Cluster team 86-0 to maintain their 100 per cent winning record.

So far this season the Warriors have enjoyed total dominance. Their success over Middlesex was their 12th straight victory. In their most recent win, their opponents comprised of players from Saracens, Wasps, Harlequins and Grasshoppers. The 16 tries were scored by seven different players.

Becky Dawson got four, Rachel Mccullough and Amber King three apiece, Lotte Clapp and Bryony Pomfret two, while there was one each from Syd Nurthen, and Courtney Arberry. Abbie Maxwell added three conversions. This followed recent wins against Ealing, 54-0 and Norfolk Nomads, 66-0.

After the triumph, the Welwyn Girls' Under-15 manager Peter Mccullough was delighted. He said: "We have won the Thames Valley League without conceding a point and are unarguably the best Under-15 girls' club rugby team in the East and South East of England this season."

The main challenges for the side still lay ahead and they will show just how good the team is, according to Mccullough. "The test of how good the side really is will be the tournaments that take place between now and the end of May, including the National Cup which starts next Sunday," he added.
