Welwyn Warriors travelled to Dorking back in May, knowing a draw would see them crowned league champions. It wasn't to be as Dorking deservedly won 45-17. This season's meeting was a very different story!
From the kick off Welwyn-Saints powered into their opposition. The forwards winning them plenty of ball and the back line firing on all cylinders! Skipper Hannah Gallagher grabbing 3 tries herself in the first half and England trialist Alex Robertson, notching a further two, the second set up by a glorious grubber kick from England U20 player Megan Williams. Georgia Peedle grabbed another, after a good move started by Sam Voyle, as Saints went in 36-0 at half time.
Dorking re-grouped at half-time and started the second half in determined fashion. A late arrival for Saints was another England triallist, Geri Thomas who came on at the interval, linking well with Frankie Dawson a strong Welwyn forward drive saw Milly Fuggles go over to make it 41-0. Almost at once Dorking scored to make it 41-5. Great work from the Saints pack kept the momentum with the home side. Mica Gooding and Laura Haddon having fine games.
