Club Newsletter

Dear Members and Parents,

Welcome to the 1st newsletter of the 2008/2009 season. As most of you are aware it has not been the best start to the season for the 1st XV. Unfortunately we needed to change Coaches prior to the start of the League Program, this has obviously put planning back a bit. We now have Andy Riley as head coach and he has been doing sterling work with the team. We have been lucky enough to have had help from other club members such as Simon Hardy and we are starting to gain some forward momentum. Conversely, our mini section have had a very good start to the season including wins at Twickenham before the Premiership kick-off and 2 at the recent Ealing Festival.

We maintain a strong Coaching/management team all the way through the Mini’s Juniors, Colts, Girls and Senior Sides and once again we thank each an every one of them for their valuable and much appreciated work.

In addition to the Coaching Team, we have a number of volunteers who help with the running of the club. From maintenance of the clubhouse and grounds, the running of the Club Shop, the ladies who prepare and present meals for senior match days, Mini/Junior/Colts/Girls on a Sunday and those who prepare meals for the training nights. Thank you to all of the Bar Teams and to the team that prepare the Club and pitches every weekend.

The Club just could not function without you.

We have received our yearly allocation of tickets for the RFU Draw –
REMEMBER we get to keep 90% of the monies raised by our sale of tickets.
Last year we didn’t do too well and would request that you each try to sell/buy a few more books this year. IF EVERYBODY ONLY SOLD ONE BOOK EACH THE CLUB WOULD MAKE £4,000.00 It is a great way for The Club to raise funds.

Lunch 14th November v Ruislip. We are looking to get a good number of members to attend: this will be the last before Christmas!!!!!!!!!! Please let me know on Bob Swindel or put your name on the list in the Clubhouse.

As a service to Club Members, we have decided to set up a Welwyn Trade website.

This gives members he chance to advertise their businesses to other members.

This is generally meant to provide an easy access to services that may be useful in our daily lives. For example, it would helpful if you could contact a club member to do the work needed, be it a plumber, gardener, electrician etc.

If you are already a volunteer on a regular basis to WRFC then access to advertise is free of charge. For other members we would be seeking an annual charge of £40.00 to advertise on this page.
